News Bulletin October 2024
- The draw for the top eight teams in the 2024 Kyocera / Annodata Ladies Matchplay Golf competition has been made and The Bradford Golf Club are playing their 7th and final UK-based round at Murrayfield Golf Club on Tuesday 22nd October. Good luck ladies - everything crossed for you!
- Carolyn Tate won the Grannies Salver with an impressive nett 70 round and it's been a good couple of weeks for Helen Dale again as she has been top of division one in both the recent stableford and medal competitions. Congratulations too to Carol Ward and Irene Kipling on their division two wins.
- Seniors Team have 2 games remaining, Monday 7th Oct Bingley St Ives at home and Thursday 17th Oct Wike away
- Congratulations to Neil Horsman who won the Bradford Cup with 39 stableford points, and runner-up was Harry Goodison with 38 points
- On Presidents Day, congratulations to A. Goodison, N. Gartland, N. Horsman and C. Houghton team won with a score of 91 points
- With a very impressive net score of 59, Andrew John Thompson won the Coronation Cup. Runner-up was Stephen Barwell who shot 68
- The Rabbits Knockout finals have been played bringing the season to a close. Congratulations go to Mark Ridgway who won the Angora Cup and Bruce Piper the runner up and to Miles Denton winner of the Centenary Trophy and runner up Craig Shields. Thanks to everyone who took part.
- Well done to Yvonne Barker who won the Saddington Salver with 36 points
- Well done to Carolyn Tate (36 points) and Sue Gill (30 points) for winning their divisions in the final ladies qualifying stableford of the season
- Congratulations to Debbie Rockcliffe and Catherine Houghton who won the latest Stableford with 35 points (Div_1) and 40 points (Div_2) respectively
- A big shout goes to Stanley Leach who won the Ladies Cup with 347. Runner-up was Adam Spolnik with 350
- October Medal winners were Darren Kendal with 68 in Div_1, Adam Butt with 68 in Div_2 and John Williams with 65 in Div_3. Well done to all
- The Hanson Trophy winner was Joe Cooper, with 40 points. Dan Saunders came second only on countback. Well done to both
- The Seniors team have now concluded their season by beating Bingley at home and drawing with Wike away. Thanks to Phil Crook for organising the games and all that played
- The Clubhouse Rendering is progressing well and remains on schedule to complete soon

- Despite “course closed due to wet weather” delaying the playing of round 2, Becky Kendrick held on to a clear lead after round 1 to win the title of Club Champion Best Nett whilst it was Sian Walters who beat Linda Hugill on countback to the Club Champion Best Gross crown. Julie Bennett was the best nett runner-up.
- A week later, the weather certainly delivered for the ladies Charity Day - Janis Barber and her team of helpers organised a fantastic event with an 18-hole team competition, an individual 9-hole competition, guess the weight of the bowl of golf balls, and an awe-some raffle. All monies raised, likely to be well in excess of £1200, are going to Janis’ chosen charity Parkinson’s UK.
- The course was at its finest for Wilton Developments corporate golf day held recently at TBGC. A “Beat the Pro” competition raised £500 and this as well as a further £1000 from Wilton’s charitable trust was donated to Lady Captain Kate Cooper’s charity Epilepsy Action. An-other of our tee sponsors, Rex Procter, also held their corporate golf day which resulted in a further donation of £470 to Epilepsy Action.
- Chris Tyrell won the Rabbits Captain’s Prize for the second succes-sive year. Unfortunately the Rabbits lost 3-1 to Hollins Hall in their annual match for the Bradford Bell.
- Howard Astin was the winner of the Veteran’s Cup, with Andrew Rip-ley taking the runners-up spot and in the September Stableford, Alaisdair McKelvie, Andrew Paley and Ian Ackroyd were top of their respective divisions.
- It’s all still to play for in the Ladies Cup (one of the men’s majors). With two events still to play, Craig Smith and Martin Pogson lead the way but five other players are all within 4 shots.
- The Ladies Annodata Team host-ed and beat Accrington in round 6 of the Matchplay Golf event. Around 200 teams from across the UK entered the 2024 competition and TBGC have reached the last 8!!!!
