- Despite “course closed due to wet weather” delaying the playing of round 2, Becky Kendrick held on to a clear lead after round 1 to win the title of Club Champion Best Nett whilst it was Sian Walters who beat Linda Hugill on countback to the Club Champion Best Gross crown. Julie Bennett was the best nett runner-up.
- A week later, the weather certainly delivered for the ladies Charity Day – Janis Barber and her team of helpers organised a fantastic event with an 18-hole team competition, an individual 9-hole competition, guess the weight of the bowl of golf balls, and an awe-some raffle. All monies raised, likely to be well in excess of £1200, are going to Janis’ chosen charity Parkinson’s UK.
- The course was at its finest for Wilton Developments corporate golf day held recently at TBGC. A “Beat the Pro” competition raised £500 and this as well as a further £1000 from Wilton’s charitable trust was donated to Lady Captain Kate Cooper’s charity Epilepsy Action. An-other of our tee sponsors, Rex Procter, also held their corporate golf day which resulted in a further donation of £470 to Epilepsy Action.
- Chris Tyrell won the Rabbits Captain’s Prize for the second succes-sive year. Unfortunately the Rabbits lost 3-1 to Hollins Hall in their annual match for the Bradford Bell.
- Howard Astin was the winner of the Veteran’s Cup, with Andrew Rip-ley taking the runners-up spot and in the September Stableford, Alaisdair McKelvie, Andrew Paley and Ian Ackroyd were top of their respective divisions.
- It’s all still to play for in the Ladies Cup (one of the men’s majors). With two events still to play, Craig Smith and Martin Pogson lead the way but five other players are all within 4 shots.
- The Ladies Annodata Team host-ed and beat Accrington in round 6 of the Matchplay Golf event. Around 200 teams from across the UK entered the 2024 competition and TBGC have reached the last 8!!!!
