JAMES MILLER TRIUMPHS AT THE 2010 HAWKSWORTH TROPHY 2010
The prestigious Hawksworth Trophy, a 36-hole strokeplay competition for the leading amateur golfers throughout the north of England, was held at The Bradford Golf Club on Saturday 24th April.
This year's event was won by James Miller, playing out of Fulford Golf Club, with a two-round gross score of 136, 6 under par.
In a very closely fought competition, James finished just two shots ahead of two players on 138. With a second round score of 69, the runner up was Simon Coumbe of Pontefract & District. Third place went to Martin Brown of Pike Hills.
The five Bradford Club entrants were led home by Chris Dunn on 147.
The Hawksworth Trophy is one of the major competitions throughout the season which, together, constitute the Yorkshire Order of Merit. It attracts a top class field and has been a prominent feature in The Bradford Golf Club calendar for almost 40 years.
The Club Head Professional Andrew Hall says "The Hawksworth Trophy proved once again to be a challenging competition for the region's top players and we very much look forward to hosting the event again in 2011"
